Tamaqua Arts Center

This image was taken from the Tamaqua Art Center’s website. It shows what the Art Center used to look like and how it looks today.

The building where the Tamaqua Arts Center is today was built in the mid to late 1800s. When it was built the building was known as the First Salem United Methodist Church. The church remained active until 2010. The church then had a merger with another Methodist Church. The building sat vacant for 2 years. In 2011 the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership purchased the building. Through many meetings, many volunteers, and a lot of determination the building became the Tamaqua Community Arts Center.
